To improve students' maritime knowledge and stimulate their interest in participating in maritime and port affairs, the Marine and Water Bureau and Maritime Training School organised a lecture for our JM3 and F3 students on 23rd March in Jubilee Complex. The lecture was also part of the Maritime Knowledge School Promotion Programme.
The lecture was divided into five parts, namely a brief introduction to the origin of the name "Macao", an introduction to the maritime history and culture of Macao, interpretation of nautical chart to learn the main ports and waterways of Macao, know more about maritime safety with introduction the role of lighthouses, navigation marks and dredging and lastly knowledge of tides and navigation to understand tidal phenomena and their role in navigation.
Lecturers from the two departments introduce the close connection between Macao and the ocean and navigation through a relaxing and interesting lecture to our students, deepening the students’ interest in maritime knowledge and culture. During the question-and-answer session, the students were even more active, and the lecture ended successfully.
