In order to deepen the understanding of Chinese culture, a group of 30 captains and 2 teachers, visited the exhibition "Auspicious Beginning: Spring Festival Traditions in the Forbidden City" at the Macao Museum of Art on March 2.
The exhibition showed the importance of the Spring Festival in traditional Chinese culture and also exhibited cultural relics and artworks related to the Spring Festival. Our captains learned a lot of cultural knowledge about the Spring Festival in this exhibition, such as the origin of traditional cultural materials such as Spring Festival couplets, New Year pictures, lanterns, gongs and drums and their connotations.
What the students mostly interested in was the celebration ceremony of the Forbidden City during the Spring Festival, including the sacrificial ceremony of the emperor and the queen mother in the hall and folk lion dance and dragon dance performances. The students had a deep understanding of the grandeur and complexity of the royal celebration ceremony, as well as the excellent traditional Chinese culture behind it.
This visit allowed our captains to have a deeper understanding of the charm of traditional Chinese culture, and learned to respect and cherish the profound Chinese culture. After the visit, our captains expressed their hope of visiting more such activities in the future so as to learn and inherit Chinese culture more extensively.
Our teachers and students also thanked the staff of the Macao Museum of Art for their warm reception and detailed explanations, and highly praised this rich and beneficial cultural trip.
