In order to promote Macanese language and Macanese culture, we invited members of the Macau Macanese Youth Association to our school on June 13, 2023, to meet our students of the Portuguese elective classes in F4 and F5.
The speaker for this event was Sra. Paula Carion, Vice-President of Macanese Youth Association, and Sr. António Monteiro, President of the Association also attended the sharing session. In addition, it was our honor to invite Mr. Filomeno Jorge (Russo), the lead singer of the Macau Band, played and sang a number of songs in the native language for our students. Through this sharing session, our students got to know the vernacular, the language on the verge of being lost in Macao, and the process of its formation. During this event, our students actively participated, asked questions, and had many interactions with the host. Our students understood the evolution of local culture in Macao and benefited a lot in these activities. We look forward to have such related activities again in the near future to deepen students’ understanding of the native language and culture of Macao. |
