In November the Catholic Church reminds us to pray for the dead, especially for the souls in purgatory. Catholicism classes, Doctrine classes, Pre-catechumen classes, all SM1 students and Catholic teachers gathered in the chapel on November 10 Friday morning to participate in the memorial mass for the deceased priest who served in YWC and China in the past. Prayers for teachers and staff, as well as for those who lost their lives in the war.
During the Mass, Fr Ho Ka-fai encouraged everyone to pray for the deceased they knew through the Holy Script. Fr Ho shared with us the story of a Polish family: the martyr Ulma and his family were canonized as Blesseds at the beatification ceremony in Mar, Poland on September 10. The Ulma family was granted asylum on March 24, 1944. Some persecuted Jews were murdered by the Nazis. During the brutal days of World War II, the home of the martyr Ulma was transformed into "an inn that welcomed and cared for the despised, abandoned and dying". Then, Fr Ho encouraged us to learn from the Blesseds, to seize life and serve others.
