On 8th December, Yuet Wah College celebrated its 98th anniversary. To commemorate this occasion, a ceremony honoring the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the 98th founding anniversary was held. In the morning, a series of celebratory activities took place on campus, including a Mass, a celebration assembly, and various teacher-student activities. During the celebration assembly, some teachers were awarded the Long Service Awards, giving a warm and heartfelt atmosphere. After the assembly, the campus hosted activities such as basketball and football teacher-student matches, as well as a physical fitness competition. The enthusiastic participation of students, alumni, and teachers filled the campus with laughter and excitement.
In continuation of celebrating its anniversary, the school hosted a gala dinner at the Plaza Restaurant in the evening. With 55 tables set up, the event brought together guests, alumni, teachers, staffs, parents, and final year students. Distinguished guests in attendance included Mr. Kong Chi Meng, Director of Macao SAR Government Education and Youth Development Bureau, Mr. Lin Kam Seng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University of Macau, Ms. Chan Hong, President of the Chinese Education Association, Mr. Ao Chung Kit, Chairman of the Delta Asia Financial Group, Mr. Wu Chu Kit, Mr. Ma Iao Fong and Mr. Ngan Yat Hang, members of the Macau Legislative Council, Mr. Lai Meng San, member of the Guangdong Provincial Political Consultative Conference, and Father Lau Iam San from the St. Dominic's Church, among other representatives from various sectors of society. During the banquet, Fr. Chow Pak Fai, the principal, delivered a welcome speech. He expressed gratitude to the Macau SAR Government and the community for their support to the school. He acknowledged the selfless dedication of generations of "Yuet Wah-er" and emphasised that despite being a hundred years old, Yuet Wah College remains vibrant and full of vitality. He attributed this to the dedicated individuals who have worked tirelessly for the school's development at every stage of its establishment and growth. He encouraged the students to continue supporting and caring about Yuet Wah, regardless of their future career paths or locations, so that the school will always remain youthful and full of energy like its symbol - a Red Cotton Tree. Fr. Chow also praised the students for their efforts and achievements in character development, academics, and extracurricular activities since the beginning of the school year. He commended those who have made progress and excelled in moral conduct and academic performance. Finally, he encouraged everyone to work together, keep pace with the times, and contribute abundant gifts to celebrate the school's centenary. Apart from the toast ceremony, the banquet also featured an exciting and highly anticipated lucky draw sessions with abundant gifts. Additionally, there were captivating performances by students showcasing their diverse talents and skills, including acrobatics and a wind ensemble, which received applause from the audience. The banquet was filled with a festive, lively, and warm atmosphere. As the event drew to a close with melodious music, the celebration dinner ended with farewells and mutual well wishes. Everyone wished Yuet Wah College a happy anniversary and a prosperous future. |
