Activities of the Chinese Month have recently concluded. Thank all the students for their active participation! Activities of this year's Chinese Month were diverse. In addition to the traditional activities such as poster exhibitions, writing competitions, and calligraphy competitions, a film appreciation session was added this year. For three consecutive days during lunchtime, the animated film "Chang'an Thirty Thousand Miles" was screened at the Jubilee Hall. The story is set in the prosperous Tang Dynasty and tells the tale of the chaos that ensued in Chang'an after the "Anshi Rebellion." Gao Shi, who was promoted to the position of the Northern Frontier, recalls his long-standing friendship with Li Bai and his story with his good friend Du Fu. The animation is vivid, with a tight plot, attracting many junior high school students to come and watch.
The 2nd Chinese Month Inter-class Debate Competition was also successfully held on 26th January at the Jubilee Hall. A total of twelve teams from JM2 to SM2 and F2 to F5, were qualified to participate. The participants engaged in intense "debates" on twelve different topics. Only after a fierce "battle" can they enter the exciting final moments. On the day of the competition, the students showcased their eloquence and debating skills on the topics of " Should Macau High Schools Implement Ability-based Class Allocation" and "Should Macau Implement Mandatory Garbage Classification Fee Program" It was a splendid display of talent.
The department team also devoted efforts to promote cultural heritage activities. Professional instructors were invited to teach students calligraphy skills and tea culture knowledge. Ms. Chao Hong Wa, a calligrapher, taught students calligraphy skills in two workshops. Everyone wrote spring couplets together, creating a joyful atmosphere and inheriting the fine traditions of Chinese culture. Through the explanations by tea artist Ms. Wong Wai Ian, students learned about the unique golden flower fermentation process of Pu-erh tea and the differences between domestic sales, overseas sales, and export sales of tea. The instructor also demonstrated how to brew Pu-erh tea and the proper way to taste it in daily life. Through the two workshops, students gained an understanding of tea culture and cultivated their passion for inheriting Chinese culture.
Through various Chinese language activities, students' love for Chinese culture can be nurtured. We look forward to meeting you again next year!
