The Yuet Wah College Anniversary Dinner was held on 8th December at the Plaza Restaurant. In celebration of the school anniversary, a Feast of the Immaculate Conception and a ceremony commemorating the 99th Anniversary of the college were conducted on 7th December.
On the morning of 7th December, a series of celebratory activities took place on campus, including a Mass, a celebratory gathering, and various activities involving both teachers and students. During this celebration, the school announced the official launch of the "Welcome 100" initiative in anticipation of its 100th Anniversary. The theme for the centenary celebration is “Voyaging to the Centennial Era with Love.” Following the formal events, a friendly basketball match occurred on campus, with teachers, students, and alumni actively participating, creating a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and joy.
On the evening of 8th December, the school hosted a grand banquet at the Plaza Restaurant, welcoming guests to honour the anniversary. With over sixty tables arranged, the event was a magnificent gathering of guests, alumni, faculty, parents, and graduating students, all coming together to commemorate this special occasion. Distinguished guests in attendance included Mr. Kong Chi Meng, Director of the Macao SAR Government Education and Youth Development Bureau; Ms. Chan Hong, President of the Chinese Education Association; Mr. Chan Iok Wai, Director of the Student Affairs Division of the Education and Youth Development Bureau; Mr. Lai Meng San, Member of the Guangdong Provincial Political Consultative Conference; Mr. Ngan Iek Hang, Mr. Ma Io Fong, and Mr. Wu Chu Kit, members of the Macau Legislative Council; Mr. Shi Hao, Executive Director of the Macao Henry Fok Foundation; Mr. Ao Chong Kit, Chairman of the Delta Asia Financial Group; and Mr. Pun Chi Meng, member of the school board.
During the anniversary banquet, Fr. Chow Pak Fai, the Principal, delivered a welcoming speech. He expressed his gratitude for the presence of all attendees and thanked the Macao SAR Government and various sectors of society for their unwavering support of the college. He noted that since the commencement of the academic year, through the collective efforts of faculty and students, the school has made significant progress in all areas. Noteworthy advancements have been achieved in moral education, academic improvement, and extracurricular activities. He also mentioned that the school is actively participating in the Comprehensive Evaluation process organised by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, a significant initiative aimed at promoting and enhancing the college's operations, providing valuable opportunities for future growth and development.
Fr. Chow stated that Yuet Wah College, founded in 1925 in Guangzhou, has now completed 99 extraordinary years. The college plans to prepare and launch a series of solemn yet joyful activities to celebrate its upcoming 100th Anniversary and to document this centennial celebration. He expressed his hope that, throughout the preparations and celebrations for the centenary, the college would continue to receive support from all stakeholders. Together, they aim to benefit the students and work towards the prosperity of the nation, the advancement of education in Macau, and a brighter future for Yuet Wah College.
In addition to the toast ceremony, the college and guests offered a variety of generous gifts for the banquet, featuring an exciting raffle segment that generated considerable anticipation. Performances by alumni showcased their talents, including a captivating magic show, which received enthusiastic applause. The atmosphere throughout the evening was filled with joy, excitement, and warmth. As the banquet drew to a close, accompanied by melodious music, guests and alumni exchanged heartfelt farewells, expressing their hopes for the continued success of Yuet Wah College and looking forward to gathering again for the grand centennial celebration next year.
