The 72nd Yuet Wah Sports Meet concluded successfully at the Macau Stadium in Taipa after two days of intense competition.
The joint efforts of teachers and students led to six records being broken at this year's school Sports Meet, including the high jump in Group A. This achievement is not only a source of joy for the school's teachers and students, but also a testament to the whole-person development of Yuet Wah students. This year's school Sports Meet saw a remarkable turnout of 1643 students who participated in 20 different types of competitions, reflecting an enthusiastic registration. The addition of fun-filled activities such as dodgeball competitions added to the joyful atmosphere of the event. The Sports Meet was a blend of intense and relaxed moments, with athletes competing fiercely for the top spot, while the audience cheered and laughed, making it a lively and enjoyable event. Many students also volunteered to help in managing the event, ensuring that the competition ran smoothly and efficiently. The Sports Meet served as a fitting embodiment of the school's theme for the year - ‘Perseverance with integrity. Serve with the Heart of Jesus‘. The Sports Meet is an important review of students' daily sports activities and a great opportunity for them to showcase their skills. This year's school Sports Meet saw 9 individuals and teams breaking 6 records, including SM3D Chan In Sam in Group A javelin throw, JM3D Lao Chi Him in Group B javelin throw, F6A Leong Hou Meng in Group A high jump, F6B Teng Ka Seng in Group A 400 meters and F3B Hoi Iat Nok in Group B 400-meter hurdles. In addition to traditional events, the school also held class club competitions and fun sports competitions to increase students' interest in sports activities and enliven the atmosphere. At the closing ceremony, Dr. Alex Hsieh, the guest of honor, delivered a speech, drawing from his experience as a goalkeeper to encourage students to give full play to their strengths and try bravely. He emphasised that success is within reach as long as they persevere. The teachers and students present gave him a warm round of applause. Following the speech, the conference presented awards to outstanding students such as F5D Ip Weng Tou, F6B Kuan Tin Wai, F6B Tang Ka Seng, SM2C Chan Si Chin, F6B Leong Hou Meng, JM3D Leong Kai in, F2E Leong Lok Hin, F3B Hoi Iat Nok, JM3B Ng Hou Nam, JM2E Ng Chi Him, F2A Lam Iat Hoi, JM1D Lo Bok In and others who won the individual champion awards for Group A, Group B, and Group C. At the school sports meeting, the principal, Fr. Chow Pak Fai, expressed his gratitude to the teachers and students who participated in the preparation of the event. He encouraged the students to approach the competition with hard work and concentration, aiming to become spiritual leaders and well-rounded individuals with intelligence, physical ability, and beauty. The 72nd Sports Meet came to a successful conclusion with the lowering of the school sports meeting flag, accompanied by the majestic school song. The closing ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Mr. Pun Chi Meng and Mr. Tam Chi In, the school directors, Fr. Lee Yick Kiu, the supervisor of Dom Bosco Yuet Wah College, Ms. U Pek Fong, the principal of the school, Mr. Leong Su Weng, the principal of Instituto Salesiano, and Ms. Kuan Wai Peng, the president of the Parent’s and Teachers’ Association. |
