In order to let our students understand the development of the Zhuhai-Macao Cross-Border Industrial Area and the actual situation of the sewage treatment station, a group of 32 people from our Monitors’ Association went to the Cross-Border Industrial Area Frontier Building on March 4.
During the visit, the students learned that the sewage treatment plant started operation in early 2009. It uses Lucas® activated sludge treatment process and biofilm microfiltration (MBR) process with a total of 4 biofilm treatment lines. After the sewage passes through the pre-treatment procedures such as screening , grit and oil removal tank, it will enter the biological aeration tank for biological purification treatment. Finally, the sewage will be disinfected by biofilm microfiltration and ultraviolet (UV) before discharged to nearby bodies of water.
Through the visit, our students learned about the basic operations of the Macao Cross-Border Industrial Area Frontier Building and also realized the importance of environmental protection . This activity was of great benefit to students in establishing a good ecology and raising their awareness of environmental protection.
