On 18th May, the Art Department teachers and students of our school embarked on a unique art appreciation trip to the St. Joseph's Seminary. The main purpose of this visit was to allow students to closely encounter and learn about European classical oil paintings and icon art, and deepen their understanding of the profound integration between art and religion.
The St. Joseph's Seminary houses a collection of precious European religious art pieces. Under the detailed guidance of the docent, students first visited several representative religious oil paintings. These works not only have high artistic value, but also carry rich religious culture and historical significance. As the students observed, they learned about the painting techniques and use of colour behind these works, and engaged in in-depth discussions on the religious stories and symbolic meanings portrayed in the paintings.
This visit not only allowed the teachers and students to enhance their artistic skills, but also deepened their understanding of how religion and art coexist and integrate. This activity not only strengthened the students' art appreciation abilities, but also helped them comprehend the inseparable connection between art and religion. This was a precious learning experience.
Our school will continue to promote such educational activities, in order to enrich the students' learning experiences, broaden their horizons, and foster a deeper understanding and respect for art and culture. Teachers and students alike are full of anticipation for future learning, and hope that more such opportunities can ignite their passion for art.
