On 8th July 2024, a group of over twenty students and teachers from our school participated in a study tour to the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone. The tour was co-organised by the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone. During the one-day itinerary, the students and teachers visited Nargin Technology Company, the Macau Youth Entrepreneurship Valley, and the Hengqin Integrated Utility Tunnel, experiencing firsthand the technological innovation and smart city construction in the new zone.
At Nanometals Technology Company, the students and teachers toured the company's research and development centre and learnt about their innovative achievements in the field of nanotechnology, including nano-silver touch materials and nano-silver disinfectant. The company's management provided detailed information on Nanometals's research results in the application of nanotechnology, as well as its important role in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
The students and teachers also visited the Hengqin Integrated Utility Tunnel and gained a better understanding of the infrastructure's crucial role in smart city construction. The tunnel integrates various utility pipelines, such as electricity, communications, and water supply and drainage, using an entirely underground layout, which not only enhances the outlook of the city but also provides a fundamental support for subsequent smart applications.
Subsequently, the student and teacher group visited the Hengqin Youth Entrepreneurship Valley located in Macau. The Entrepreneurship Valley provides young entrepreneurs with comprehensive support, including office space and financing, aiming to create an important platform for youth innovation and entrepreneurship in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau region.
This visit not only allowed the students and teachers to experience the vibrant development of the the Hengqin In-Depth Cooperation Zone but also strengthened their understanding of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area construction, cultivating their international perspective and innovative spirit.
