The months of May and June marked the Geography Month of the current academic year, with the theme being "Sustainable Development". The Geography Month activities were diverse and engaging, including poster displays, booth games, workshops, talks, and site visits, allowing students to observe social dynamics from different perspectives and broaden their horizons.
The poster display provided an introduction to various aspects of sustainable development and showcased relevant examples, incorporating the theme of the nation's strategies in addressing climate change. The booth games, which took place during recess on 13th and 14th May, aimed to deepen students' understanding of weather phenomena and disasters, as well as the objectives of sustainable development. In terms of workshops, we organised an indigo dyeing workshop on 9th May and a talk on the significance of travelling on 16th May. These activities enabled students to learn about the culture of indigo dyeing and create their own unique indigo dyed handkerchiefs. The talk on the significance of travelling emphasised the importance of sustainable tourism, reminding students to be mindful of their personal conduct when travelling and the significance of responsible travel. Regarding the site visit, we visited the Cartography and Cadastre Bureau, where students were introduced to some surveying instruments and methods, as well as the application of online map resources. The Geography Month activities of the current academic year have been successfully concluded. We hope that everyone has gained valuable insights, and we welcome your feedback and suggestions on the content and arrangements of this Geography Month.     |
