Sponsored by the Education Fund, we had our first Singapore study tour from July 18 to July 22, 2024. A total of 19 students from both English and Chinese sections and 4 teachers visited Singapore and had a valuable learning experience, attending interactive English courses and understanding the special blend of cultures.
During the visit to Furen International School, students spent the whole/a full day immersing themselves in the Singaporean culture with the guidance of the teacher and staff there. During the lessons, they learnt about various aspects of the local culture and had the opportunity to write their own plays and later act on stage. This was an excellent chance for our students to practise their English skills and showcase their creativity.
Beyond the classroom, the students also explored the cultural diversity of Singapore. They visited the National Gallery Singapore to learn more about the arts, the history and cultures of Singapore. At the NEWater facility, they gained insights into the water recycling process and the city-state's innovative approach to water management.
The itinerary also included popular tourist destinations, such as the iconic Supertree Grove, where the students enjoyed the mesmerizing music and light displays. They also ventured into Chinatown, Little India, and the Sultan Mosque, experiencing the harmonious integration of different cultures within Singapore.
This study tour was a meaningful and enriching experience for our students. It allowed them to practise English, gain exposure to diverse cultural traditions, and broaden their perspectives through first-hand experiences in another country/ a foreign country.
