In November, our school hosted a series of science-themed events aimed at igniting students' interest in science, enhancing their academic knowledge and practical skills, and nurturing future-oriented, innovative talents in technology and academia. The activities included specialised lectures and innovative competitions, which attracted enthusiastic participation from many students and yielded significant results.
Science Lectures: Exploring Cutting-Edge Knowledge and Broadening Horizons
During November, the school invited experts to deliver two engaging lectures:
Professor Poon Chuen Wai presented a lecture titled "Precision Medicine and Big Data: Healthcare Revolution and Business Opportunities" to senior secondary science students. The students gained a deep understanding of the principles and applications of precision medicine and were inspired in their subject choices and future career planning. Some students even interacted with the professor to discuss the applications and prospects of gene therapy and related scientific technologies.
Professor Kwok Hang Fai delivered a lecture titled "Drug with 'Monster Bite': How Nature’s Deadliest Venoms are Saving Human Livers?" to junior secondary science students. The students showed great interest in the practical applications of biological sciences, which sparked their enthusiasm for research.
Junior Secondary Competitions: Innovating Green Living and Enhancing Practical Skills
For junior secondary students, the school organised the "Green Low-Carbon Science Competition: Shaping a Green Life Together." During this activity, students showcased their creativity by producing numerous outstanding works that combined scientific and innovative elements. Four of these works will represent the school in the Macau regional selection of the "Green, Low-Carbon National Youth Science Competition." This event not only deepened the students' understanding of green living concepts but also fostered their environmental awareness and scientific creativity.
Continuously Promoting Holistic Educational Development
The Science Month activities highlighted our school’s efforts in diversified education. These initiatives not only sparked students' academic interest but also promoted their comprehensive development. The school will continue to provide more enriching learning opportunities in the future, striving for the comprehensive enhancement of educational quality. We aim to lay a solid foundation for students' academic and career paths while cultivating well-rounded talents with an innovative spirit and practical skills.
